Namibia has two national holidays in December.
Christmas celebrated on December 25.
*They celebrate by decorating with lights and traditionally a thorn branch is used as a Christmas tree.
*The Oshiwambo Christmas is a feast. They believe Christmas is about sharing. Big celebratory braais (barbeques) are held and everyone is invited.
*The Caprivian Christmas starts off with a church service. Every family prepares a traditional meal for a sit-down dinner.
*The Herero Christmas is focused on the young ones. The children perform a play for the adults. Then followed by a feast of delicious cuisine and singing follows.
These are three different people groups within Namibia.
Family Day celebrated on December 26.
*It is a time for families to come together and feast, remember their ancestors and enjoy the festivities. Games are often played among children and adults.
