The San Bushman have an ancient past but almost no recorded history except the rock paintings of antelope, elephants, dancers, and hunters. Some of the rock paintings are still vivid despite being weathered by wind, rain and the sun for 3,000 years. The most recent paintings have sailing ships and mounted horsemen. Then there were no more paintings.
