It is LABOR Day weekend here in the United States. Time for a day off from work, picnics, and lots of sales. Currently, the U.S. has an unemployment rate of 3.9%. The all time high record was 10.8% in November 1982 and all time low was 2.5% in May 1953.
Namibia’s unemployment rate was 37.3% in 2017, up from 34% in 2016 and 28% recorded in 2014. The youth population is unemployed at 43.4%.
The World Bank estimates income inequality around the world on a scale of 0 to 100. Zero representing total equality. Namibia is rated the second most unequal country in the world with a score of 61. The United States has a score of 41.
We have seen the differences between Namibia and the United States. We have much to be thankful for and also much to pray for.
